Say Yes to Life!

Have you come across those challenges that ask you to describe what you do for work in one sentence, or so that a three year old could understand it?

My answer is “I ask questions.” If I am allowed to make it a bit longer, I say “I listen and ask questions.” Thinking about that now that could make me a detective, but anyhoo that is how I see coaching!

Over the nearly ten years of coaching, I have found that one of the hardest questions I ask seems to be “What do you do for fun?”

It can be followed by a shrug, a shake of the head, a ‘don’t know anymore,’ or can cause some tears. It can feel quite confronting.

I have absolutely been in that place, this question has absolutely had me stumped too. There is a journal entry in my book that listed the three things I could think of at the time that I enjoyed – breakfast out, tea for one, reading a book.

Sidenote – Interesting reflecting that they were all solo too! I wrote recently about how a change came about in my values, you can catch up on that here.

Life has a way of getting filled up with roles, responsibilities, routines and a whole lot of shoulds. Before we know it a fair ol’ chunk of time has gone by, when we realise that we are not doing anything that lights us up, makes us smile or what simply feels good.

That’s exactly why I created Say Yes to Life!

It’s not another to-do list. It’s simply a collection of gentle, sometimes rather random, ideas to help you reconnect with joy, playfulness, adventure, curiosity, and all those little moments that remind you life is meant to be lived, not just survived.

Maybe you’ll quietly start with one. Maybe it will be something new, or it might be an old favourite that needs reclaiming.

Maybe you will pick a random number and go and make it happen! Maybe one is a ‘no way,’ but it sparks an idea of your own that is a ‘heck yes!’

If this sounds like a lovely companion for your weekend, you can download your free copy here:

One of my favourite benefits of saying yes to life, (there are many) is having stories to tell!

What stories will you get to tell after the weekend! I look forward to hearing!
