Who haven’t you met yet?
An evening of good food, conversation, and the chance to meet people whose paths you might never normally cross.
On Wednesday 16th September, twenty people will gather around one table for a roast dinner, dessert, and something a little different.
No name badges, no awkward icebreaker games, just a warm welcome and a seat at the table, a beautiful meal and a whole mix of humans.
A night outside your usual circle
The Long Table is for anyone who wants to widen their circle.
Maybe you’re keen to meet new friends, maybe you’re craving different conversation, maybe you’ve lived here for years but keep seeing the same faces.
Maybe you’re new to the area, maybe you just like the idea of doing something a little unexpected on a Wednesday night.
Come on your own, bring a friend, or bring your partner and spend the evening with people you may never have met otherwise.
What might happen?
Honestly, we don’t know exactly and that’s part of the magic.
You might meet someone fascinating, you might hear a story that stays with you. You might gain a little piece of inspiration, a great tip, or a new perspective.
You might laugh more than you expected. You might find common ground with someone you never would have thought to talk to.
You might simply head home feeling accomplished and connected thinking, that was different, I’m really glad I went.
What we do know is this:
There will be delicious food, there will be a stunning setting. There will be twenty people around one table and there will be space for connection to happen naturally.
Come as you are, and allow the golden thread of connection to do the rest.

Why The Long Table?
Because so many of us move through life in the same circles. Same conversations – Same routines – Same familiar faces.
And while there’s comfort in that, there’s also something really special about sitting down with people you don’t know yet.
Stories come out, laughter happens, unexpected connections and reconnections are made.
Connection that reaches further
Every Long Table event raises funds for Taranaki Retreat. So while you’re enjoying a beautiful night around the table, you’re also helping us continue to weave that golden thread of connection through our wider community.
Your seat at the table helps create space for more support, more belonging, and more community care.
Pay It Forward
If you feel called to, you can also pay a spot forward for someone else in the community.
It’s a simple act of generosity that helps widen the circle and make the table more available for others too.
You can book your own seat, pay one forward, or do both.
One table. A whole mix of humans. Something different.
You don’t need to arrive with a perfect introduction or be the loudest person in the room or need to know anyone already.
Just come! There will be a seat waiting for you!
Join us for The Long Table on Wednesday, 16th September.
