When we think of legacy, it is often associated with what we are going to leave behind us when we die. However I believe it is also about living a legacy while we have the chance.
I am not having children, and so a little while back I realised that for me to contribute to the world it had to happen while I was alive. I couldn’t rely on children to carry the baton on for me.
For me,
- I believe, first and foremost it is understanding who we truly are, who we were put on this place to be.
- I believe, then, that to carry out and live our legacy, it is about us following our purpose, understanding our bigger picture, being aligned.
- I believe strength and resilience are also a part of it, because as we know ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’.
- I believe that for us to truly live our legacy, it needs to be with passion and spark. That our big picture is something that totally lights us up, as well as the world.
- I believe it is about making the most of this opportunity of life that we have, that we are action takers and live life to the best we can with integrity.
- I believe it is about kindness and making a difference, to be of service whether it is in our immediate circle, local community or beyond.
- I believe it is about sharing, whether it be time or knowledge, passing on the ‘good stuff’ to others, things we have learned, experiences we can share, as well as that listening ear for those whose paths we cross.
- I believe ultimately a legacy is based on love, a love for oneself, and subsequently for those and the world around us.
For me, my legacy is about connection, helping people connect back to their true essence as well as connecting them with others.
I would love to hear what yours is, are you living it now?
