Not because of something dramatic, no grand gestures or declarations! It was simply because I consciously chose to rewrite the story about this day.
Over the years, I had already done the deep work of letting go of past disasters, old stories, heartbreaks and pain. This year wasn’t about healing the past.
It was about creating a new story.
I invited a friend to the UB40 concert last Saturday.
And what unfolded brought me so much joy…
A stunning summer evening – despite torrential rain being forecast!
Wholesome company
Chilled vibes
Easy laughter
Seeing friends and feeling that beautiful sense of community and belonging
Looking up and seeing insects lit up in the lights from the stage, so it looked as though the stars were dancing! (And no, I wasn’t smoking anything!)
Absorbing the whole experience.
Connection on many levels.
That feeling of being alive – of truly living.
And somewhere in the middle of it all, I realised where I am at.
Love is welcome, my heart is open and I feel super grateful for the life I am living.
Rewriting our history isn’t about fixing the past. It’s about living differently now. It is allowing ourselves to experience something beautiful and letting that beauty become part of the story we carry forward.
Love can take many forms.
It can look like friendship.
It can sound like music on a summer night.
It can feel like laughter rising.
It can be pausing to really embody joy.
It can be gratitude for an open heart.
It can be accepting differences.
It can be a wave from across the crowds.
It can be an inner peace, being one with nature.
It feel like a homecoming to self.
And sometimes – it’s simply the quiet knowing that life is still full of possibility and opportunity.
None of our stories are finished.
A new chapter is always possible.
